From a Sailors Point of view

As a Sailor 500/200 USCG master & CEO of Polars Yachts Brokerage LLC, Rodrick Purves Broker. For our first Blog post. I would like to share about our company. Who, and why Polars yachts. As a lifetime sailor! And a son of a sun of a sailor proven hardened and refined my skills while 20 years US Navy chief. Then 22 years with in the merchant marines; of which I held a professional captaincy of 500/200 ton coming up through the ranks as it were. I The dreaded word, hawsepiper to all which knowes the meaning. Starting in the USCG rating Galley 5th, to the deck department A/B Special reaching Unlimited, and Boson Mate Unlimited keeping my chef skills sharp while all the while using and holding a 500 ton Captaincy with all STCW compliance. I just renewed my 6th renewal. and before that my first A/B Special card was black sure and the likes of only the saltiest dogs be understanding the meaning. I young puddle pirates. Now take a hand to the helm and be standing by.

Moving to Key West for my twilight tour while in the US Navy year was 1996, I purchased the Lookout III, Fishing charter business. Offering daily charters, and 3 day trips to the Marquesas islands, and 7 days trips to the Dry Tortugas.

The Lookout III was truly a long range 65 ft sports fisherman attack fishing vessel holding 1200 gals fuel twin 671 naturals. so from 1993 to 2001 I was cruising and fishing all the island to the bay of Campeche.

Also I found myself involved in sailing vessel regattas, and deliveries to roots covering all the Florida coast, to Trinidad & Tobago.

I also hired on with Navo Oceana Global science research operations. Covering every nation, and all oceans from Arctic pole to Antarctic Pole. Again taking delivers and sailing adventures as they became available! (globally). Moving to Southern Calif and operating private yachts, fishing, sail and science vessels allowing me to explore all the oceans of the world so extensively west coast and the embodiment of all the pacific. That is all of the west coast to include Baja Ca, and all Pacific to New Zealand. argh!! There be stories to tell me hearties. Born a travelin big wave surfer – surfing everywhere I could find the largest waves.

I was born son of the whales clan near Newport beach Ca. And half owner in factory direct yachts for a while then to WME Yachts under Bernie Sanders NY NY.

I love all things Yachting and cruising. Sailing all around the world. working on my 16th circumnavigation. So of course I opened Polars Yachts to start a truly personalized Concierge Yachting purchasing experience.
